LEAVE A LEGACY
Our campaign depends upon the support of those who have left a gift in their will. Legacies are a vital part of our campaign for a law where nobody has to endure unnecessary pain or suffering. If you’d like more information about leaving a legacy or have a question, please email gary.marsh@mydeath-mydecision.org.uk
We know that arranging a will can seem daunting, but it is often easier than many people think. It’s important to note that, like other political campaigning organisations, My Death, My Decision is not a charity. It is however a not-for-profit organisation – meaning that all funds must be applied exclusively in furthering the campaign.
There are three types of gifts you can leave in your will. A share of your estate – which will keep its value in line with inflation, a fixed amount of money, or a specific item e.g. jewellery etc.
We recommend that you use a solicitor or reputable will-making service to help write your will, as the choice you make about legacies or gifts may be affected by other aspects of your affairs.
To include us in your will we suggest that the following wording is used:
I give to My Death, My Decision (Registered in England as My Death, My Decision Ltd, company number 11758121), 39a Moreland Street, London EC1V 8BB:
[as applicable}
- all the residue of my estate; OR
- one (insert share, e.g. ¼) share of the residue of my estate; OR
- a sum of £(insert sum) OR
- a specific gift (e.g. jewellery)
- [other]
for its purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Director of Finance or other proper officers of My Death, My Decision shall be a full and sufficient discharge for said legacy.
